As one of the MAPS admin, I'm still so frustrated on how these "outside organizations" haven't even given anyone an idea of how they're going to restructure Jordan... I've read plenty of sources justifying why this take-over is necessary in light of the poor academic performances of the high school, but not one comment or concrete detail on what will happen next year to Jordan as a charter school.

Inshallah we'll find out something soon.

SubhanAllah,

Given all the changes going on at Jordan, I wonder how MAPS is going to be able to cater to the students needs. I hope administration will choose faculty and staff that will want to work with MAPS.

But something to also keep in mind is how the UC system is facing even more cuts about $100-200 million to UCLA alone. This is going to have a large impact on the Academic Support programs (instruction, class size, faculty quality, number of classes available, etc.).

Reading this blog was my first time hearing about this! Someone should interview a few administrators and teachers from Jordon and see how they feel about this, I hear they will have to go through the hiring process again??

Habib: I know of an Islamic school near my house that charges "tuition" but is supposedly a charter school. But I do not know if they get public money or what they do with it if they do.

Nice article. I have always wondered if islamic schools can become charter schools. Maybe they can benefit from the publich money and wont charge tuition. Do you know anything about that?

Also, how can something be more accountible if it is so vague? Are the three schools going to simply administer Jordan? Are they going to have representation from all three schools on a board?

What are the implications of this on the school? How does the district expect this move to help improve the school condition?
I personally cannot even begin to fathom the possible outcomes of this move...
