The Eurocentric ideals making the history of long standing, unchecked, power based biases are culturally sanctioned. Biases are ours by virtue of our humanity and are mostly at the subconscious level of adaptation. Are the power based biases closer to truth than those of the tutee's? Are yours? Is it possible that I have more to learn from my tutees than they have to learn from me? Is it more important that I understand what it may be like to walk in their shoes, than for them to see the world through my eyes? Is it possible to make the intention greater than the doubt?
