Me Too
How long is long enough?
How much will finally be enough?
How do we get to a point where you’ve stopped treating us women like property
and our bodies like a prize that doesn’t have to be won?
When does it end?
When will the harassment stop?
When will our mothers and daughters, sisters and wives be safe
to walk streets at night without fear of being raped?
Who gets to decide?
Who can say no?
Who is allowed to pillage our comfort for their pleasure
and our vaginas for their good time?
Why is this still happening?
Why haven’t we seen progress?
Why are we protesting for a change that seems to never come
despite our voices being as loud as your actions?
Can our stories be heard?
Can you listen without judgement?
Can you not worry about the perpetrators who likely won’t face punishment
and sympathize with the women who were strong enough to speak up?
Where do we go from here?
Where will justice come from?
Where can we seek sanctuary and solace after our own bodies
have been violated and corrupted?
What have we done to deserve this?
What right to our bodies do you have?
What steps must be taken to prevent another sister, mom, friend, or partner
from having to say the words #METOO?
