I am going to post my reaction to his death in the next few comments. I am sure it is going to generate a few unexpected reactions but InshaaAllah, lets keep the discussion civilized and understand each other’s views.
The views presented next are my own but are inevitably based and influenced by the opinion of some prominent scholars from around the world.
The end of a tyrant and the beginning of a New Era
Praise be to Allah. Prayers and Salutations be upon our Master, the Messenger of Allah, Peace Be Upon Him (PBUH), his Family, and his Companions.
An era of oppression, subjugation, and anarchy that lasted for over forty years has just ended, an era during which Libya was ruled by an eccentric man who swung between belief and disbelief, faith and deviation; exerting oppression, committing murder, and repressing people.
Congratulations to the Libyan people, not for the death of a person, as death is not an occasion for jubilation or gloating, but for the end of a dark chapter in the history of this great nation. Yes indeed, the honorable and honest soldiers are most worthy of our congratulations.
The era of the Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya has ended with the death of its founder Muammar al-Gaddafi. His reign was based not on the book of Allah Almighty, but on the Green Book, and it was established not on the foundations of the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah PBUH, but on the principles of Socialism.
As a new era is dawning in Libya, the question today is about the future of Libya away from the covetousness of the West and the control of IMF. Can the Libyan people cast away the consequences of NATO’s support and Western military intervention and build a sovereign state that is not subservient to the American and French foreign policies in the region? This is what we hope.
Another challenging question is whether the rebels can exercise restraint and stay calm and return to their homes to allow the enforcing of the law in the land instead of anarchy.
May Allah(SWT) guide the people of Libya in the right direction.
I am not objecting to the fall of a tyrant. But, in reality, was it all about more ‘black gold’ for the imperialistic powers?
There are a few ‘facts’ which are floating on the Internet which talk about the positives of the Gaddafi regime. However, we cannot deny the fact that he was an oppressive tyrant and never ruled by the Book of Allah(SWT). In fact he was one of those who even prevented a lot of practices of Sunnah. The biggest challenge/ struggle for Libya would now begin as it now has to prevent the obvious influence of the imperialistic powers in all its policies.
One thing of prominent attention about Gaddafi’s regime is his policy on Riba-There is no interest on loans, banks in Libya are state-owned and loans are given to all its citizens at 0% interest by law.-No Riba!
Another thing about Gaddafi is that so long as he would stay in power he would never permit any military presence of NATO in Libya which meant that the Libyan land could never be used to launch any kind of ground attack on Egypt.
Libya had no foreign debts! It was never under the control of the International Monetary System.
We can only hope that Libya maintains the No Riba, No NATO, and No Foreign Debt in the future and InshaaAllah is ruled based on other Islamic teachings.
